Who we are
Tamburo ("Tamburo", "we", "us", or "our") provides the Tamburo iOS application and this website. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@tamburo.app.
Information processed on your device
Tamburo uses your iPhone microphone, with your permission, to detect drum strokes and evaluate timing and dynamics. The analysis runs on your device.
- Microphone audio: temporary recordings support equipment checks, analysis, and in-app playback. They are not sent to Tamburo or our analytics provider. Practice-session recordings are deleted when the session closes. An equipment-check recording may remain in the app's temporary storage until it is overwritten or iOS clears temporary files.
- Practice history: exercises, tempo, timing results, scores, dynamics, streaks, and completed sessions are stored locally so the app can show progress.
- Preferences: onboarding status, practice focus, daily duration, and count-in choices are stored locally using iOS app storage.
You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings. Tamburo cannot analyse new practice audio without that permission. Deleting the app removes its locally stored practice data, subject to Apple's device backup behavior.
Analytics information
We use PostHog to understand whether Tamburo works well and which parts of the practice flow need improvement. The app does not have accounts and we do not send your name, email address, contacts, microphone audio, or advertising identifier to PostHog.
The analytics data can include:
- a randomly generated identifier for this app installation;
- app version and build, iOS version, device model and type, language, time zone, screen size, and network connection type;
- screens viewed and lifecycle events such as install, update, open, and background;
- practice choices and outcomes, including exercise, subdivision, tempo, planned duration, completed rounds, timing and dynamics scores, stroke accuracy, and stretching completion; and
- masked visual session replays used to diagnose usability problems. Text, images, and sandboxed system views are masked. Network telemetry and console logs are disabled.
We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Tamburo. We do not use it for advertising, sell it, or track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
How information is shared
PostHog processes analytics and masked replay data for us in its United States cloud environment. We require service providers acting for us to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business reorganisation with appropriate safeguards.
Apple processes App Store downloads, payments, subscriptions, and related diagnostics under Apple's Privacy Policy. Tamburo does not receive your full payment-card details.
Retention and deletion
- Local data remains on your device until you delete the app, iOS clears temporary files, or a feature overwrites it.
- Analytics events are kept for no longer than 12 months.
- Masked session replays are kept for no longer than 30 days.
- Legal and security records may be kept longer when reasonably necessary to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, or prevent abuse.
You may request deletion of analytics data by emailing hello@tamburo.app. Because Tamburo has no account system, we may need information from you to locate the anonymous installation record, and in some cases may not be able to connect it to you reliably. We will still make a reasonable effort to honour the request.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise a right. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Microphone permission can be changed in iOS Settings. To object to or withdraw consent for analytics while an in-app control is unavailable, contact us; you may stop further collection immediately by deleting Tamburo.
Children
Tamburo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through Tamburo, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
Website privacy
This website does not set analytics or advertising cookies and does not include client-side tracking. Cloudflare hosts and secures the site and may process standard request information such as IP address, browser details, requested URL, and security signals under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Security and international transfers
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information processed. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. When information is processed outside your country, we rely on appropriate contractual or legal safeguards where required.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Tamburo changes. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where reasonably possible.
